Fraudsters use various methods to try to steal your data and money, pretending to be idealista. We want to help you understand the tricks they use and how you can protect yourself to keep your information and money safe.
Firstly, make sure to protect your idealista account from any fraudster:
- Activate two-step authentication to prevent anyone but you from accessing your idealista account.
When you activate two-step authentication, whenever you need to log into your account, we will send an SMS code to your mobile, which you must enter on the idealista website to confirm it is you trying to access your private area. This way, even if your credentials are compromised, no one can access your account with them. - Use a password that is as secure as possible, with a certain length, uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (. # @ …). The more complex, the harder it will be to hack. And whenever you detect any unusual behaviour in your account, immediately change the password to a new one.
- Upload a photo to your profile: Fraudsters can copy our page, making you believe you are using idealista (when in fact it is a fraudulent page that aims to get you to enter your idealista credentials to steal them or to make a transaction to keep the money). Once you have activated two-step authentication, upload a photo to your room profile. This way, the next time you access idealista, you can check if the photo seen in the header of your account area matches the one in your profile.
Some scammers send emails and create websites that mimic the look of our portal, making you believe that it is idealista or one of our clients through idealista who is contacting you to offer a listing, a rental, or similar. Be very careful, as these scammers can imitate our emails, our websites, and those of our clients in a very sophisticated way. They want you to think you are dealing with a real advertiser or with idealista. They may ask you to log in with your idealista account to steal your username and password. They may ask for payment for a reservation, a rental, personal or banking information, etc.
It is important that you can recognise when these kinds of messages and web pages are fraudulent so that you do not provide information or make money transactions.
