Marbella is solidifying its reputation as the epicentre of luxury tourism in Europe with the unveiling of a major new development on the Costa del Sol. Developers Sierra Blanca Estates and Platinum Estates have partnered through a joint venture to deliver the town’s first luxury beachfront residential-hotel resort.

The Be Grand El Limonar development, situated in one of Málaga’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, has achieved over 50% of sales in a record eight weeks since its launch. Listed on idealista, the development includes properties priced at up to €3 million. The commercial success, marketed by Gilmar, was celebrated on 17 June at an exclusive event held on the terrace of the Hotel Miramar, attended by local authorities and key figures from the property sector. Notably, only eight flats remain available, with most buyers being Spanish, Dutch and Mexican, according to idealista/news.

Marbella continues to cement its status as one of Europe’s foremost luxury residential destinations.

According to the latest Colliers report, Europe now hosts seven of the world’s top ten destinations for foreign investment in commercial real estate. Amid growing geopolitical uncertainty, investors are favouring safer, more stable markets, making Europe the leading global region, surpassing North America and Asia-Pacific. Spain has risen three spots since Q1 2024 to rank fifth worldwide, entering the global top five for the first time.

Spanish developer Caledonian has officially commenced construction on The St. Regis Residences, Casares – Costa del Sol, marking the first branded residence development from the prestigious St. Regis brand in Spain and one of the few in Europe.

Madrid’s Salamanca neighbourhood continues to attract interest from luxury investors. Investment firm Bet Capital has leveraged this trend by closing several off-market transactions in the area.

In a real estate market characterised by strong demand and stagnant sales due to limited supply, new home prices in locations such as Marbella, Benidorm, Málaga and the Balearic Islands have exceeded the levels recorded during the 2007 property crisis.

Sotogrande, the renowned hub of luxury and sport envisioned by Joseph McMicking six decades ago, has recently been the scene of a significant property transaction. A villa situated in La Reserva, the most exclusive enclave of Sotogrande, has been sold, as reported by idealista/news.

On the Costa del Sol, the luxury property market continues to captivate international developers, who are undeterred by high land prices, driven by their confidence in the region's economic potential.

At the Luxury Real Estate Investment Conference, organised by Tecnitasa in Marbella, Mariano Beristain, Business Development Director of DM Properties, shared an optimistic outlook for the sector.
