Lanzarote has several designated areas for those who want to enjoy the sea without leaving their dog at home. In recent years, several municipalities have adapted sections of their coastline to accommodate dogs. If you are planning a beach day with your four-legged companion, here is one of the island’s best-known dog-friendly beaches on Lanzarote.
Playa de las Coloradas
Located in the municipality of Yaiza, in the south of Lanzarote, Playa de Las Coloradas, also known as El Afre, has included a designated dog-friendly area since 2014. Of its more than 400 metres of shoreline, around 150 metres are reserved for visitors with pets.
The beach combines sand, gravel and pebbles, with generally calm waters. Facilities are limited, so it is advisable to come prepared. The surrounding area remains relatively undeveloped, giving it a more natural and peaceful setting.
Access with dogs is restricted to specific times: between 7:00 and 10:00 am, and between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. Outside these hours, pets are not permitted. Even with these restrictions, it remains one of the most popular dog-friendly beaches in Lanzarote.

Guacimeta Beach
Guacimeta beach is located in Playa Honda, within the municipality of San Bartolomé and close to Lanzarote Airport. This sandy beach stretches for more than a kilometre and includes a dedicated 165-metre section where dogs are permitted.
Unlike some other dog-friendly areas on the island, Guacimeta has no time restrictions. Dogs are allowed to use the designated area throughout the day, including entering the water, making it one of the most flexible options in Lanzarote.
Local regulations require dogs to remain under their owners’ control at all times. When not in the water, they must be kept on a lead. Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their pets and disposing of waste in the appropriate bins.
Bastian Beach
Costa Teguise joined the list of dog-friendly beaches in the Canary Islands in 2025 with the creation of a designated pet area on Playa Bastián. With around 375 metres of sand alongside the seafront promenade, it is one of the area's most popular urban beaches.
The waters are generally calm, and the beach offers ample space for outdoor activities, including picnic and barbecue areas, expanding the leisure options available nearby.
Within the designated dog-friendly section, pets are allowed to stay and swim alongside their owners, provided they remain under supervision at all times. As with all dog-friendly beaches in Lanzarote, owners must clean up after their pets and comply with local safety regulations.
