The hotel chain Meliá, in partnership with Summum Hotel Group, plans to open a new four-star superior hotel in Santa Ponça, aiming to blend tourism and golf to "boost luxury tourism."

The property, owned by Hotel Golf Santa Ponça, part of the Nigorra Group, will undergo a complete renovation before being managed by Summum Hotel Group under Meliá’s luxury brand, The Meliá Collection, the company announced in a statement.

The hotel will be set within the Santa Ponsa I golf course, a historic venue in Mallorcan golf that has hosted several international tournaments, including seven European Tour events.

The renovation will be led by architect Alejandro Palomino, who aims to "harmonise its design with the surrounding landscape" by blending modern architectural elements with traditional Mediterranean touches.

The hotel will feature 88 rooms, complemented by offerings such as a fine dining restaurant, a rooftop bar with panoramic views, a state-of-the-art spa, several swimming pools and modern meeting rooms.

"Originally opened in 1977, the renovation and reopening of the hotel also demonstrate our commitment to modernising the tourist offering in Santa Ponça, providing a significant boost to quality tourism and de-seasonalisation in the area," Meliá stated.

Meliá’s President and CEO, Gabriel Escarrer, expressed his "enthusiasm" for the collaboration, stating that "the partnership with Summum is a clear example of our combined ability to lead luxury tourism in Mallorca."

Summum CEO Javier Vich added that this collaboration with Meliá Hotels International "reaffirms the mutual trust between our companies and Summum’s expertise in managing high-value assets within the luxury segment."
