The Provincial Court of Cantabria has sentenced a woman to two years and one month in prison for defrauding several people by falsely claiming to rent out a flat she did not own.
The trial, which was to be held in the First Section of the Court, concluded early after the parties reached a settlement. The defendant admitted to repeated fraud and will be required to repay the sums received from the victims.
According to the ruling, the woman posted listings on platforms such as Wallapop and Milanuncios, offering a flat in Santander that she claimed she could show because her son was living there. After attracting interest, she arranged viewings with five individuals and requested deposits ranging from €300 to €700.
Once the payments were made, the defendant stopped answering calls from the victims.
As a result, the Provincial Court sentenced her to two years and one month in prison, as well as ordering her to pay a total of €2,150 in compensation.
