Halloween in Spain has two distinct sides. The evening of 31 October brings costumes, late-night parties and family activities, while Todos los Santos on 1 November is a quieter day when many families visit cemeteries and remember relatives. Plus, in several regions, older local customs take centre stage.
In 2026, Halloween falls on a Saturday and All Saints’ Day falls on a Sunday. The national holiday is not automatically moved to Monday, so any regional or local substitution should be checked against the relevant autonomous-community and municipal calendars.

Key dates and public holiday impacts for Halloween in Spain 2026
- Saturday, 31 October 2026: Halloween, with most club nights, themed dinners and family events expected to take place during the afternoon and evening.
- Sunday, 1 November 2026: Todos los Santos or All Saints’ Day, a national public holiday.
- Monday, 2 November 2026: a normal working day in much of Spain, unless a local or regional calendar provides an alternative day off.
On 1 November, opening hours can be patchy. Small independent shops are often closed, while large supermarkets, museums and visitor attractions set their own holiday timetables. Restaurants and cafés in city centres may open, but booking ahead can be sensible in areas with high visitor numbers.
Cemeteries are especially busy on All Saints’ Day, often with families arriving in the morning to bring flowers and visit graves. It is not a costume event, and treating the day with a bit of sensitivity goes a long way.
