12 August is fast approaching and anticipation continues to build. On that day, much of northern and eastern Spain will be plunged into darkness for more than a minute during a total solar eclipse – the first of the so-called Iberian trio set to continue in 2027 and 2028. What was once a purely astronomical event has become a compelling reason to travel and celebrate – with numerous festivals already taking shape to mark the August eclipse and turn the phenomenon into a shared cultural experience.

Festival Eclipsi 2026 in Prades (Tarragona)

In the Prades Mountains – a destination renowned for the quality of its dark skies – the Astronomical Park has prepared a special programme running from 10 to 13 August. Although complete darkness will last little more than a minute here, the eclipse will take centre stage across four days of guided observations and educational workshops.

The programme includes sunset concerts, planetarium sessions, constellation trails and talks exploring the Sun and space weather – alongside dedicated areas for safe sky watching and outdoor dining beneath the stars.

Astral Plane in La Pinilla (Segovia)

Set in the heart of the Ayllón mountain range, La Pinilla resort will host Astral Plane from 10 to 12 August – a festival that blends electronic music with astronomical spectacle. The highlight will unfold as the moon eclipses the Sun, while the main stage comes alive with a performance carefully timed to synchronise with the sound and the celestial event.

The line-up brings together leading international names from the techno and house scenes, spread across several stages – including one at the summit, offering panoramic mountain views. Alongside the concerts, organisers have planned a programme of educational activities and immersive experiences designed to deepen the connection between music and the cosmos.

Iberia Eclipse Festival in Vinuesa (Soria)

On the banks of the Duero River, surrounded by pine forests and mountain scenery, Vinuesa will host a five-day event designed to combine music, wellbeing and time in nature.

The programme will include workshops, artistic activities and events focused on physical and mental well-being, such as yoga sessions, meditation and water-based activities. The aim is to make the minute of darkness the highlight of an extended retreat in the heart of Soria's countryside.

Eclipsa Fest in Manjirón (Madrid)

In the Sierra Norte region of Madrid, the village of Santillana – a 19th-century historic site – will host Eclipsa Fest, with its entire programme focused on 12 August. For just over a minute, attendees will be able to witness the eclipse at totality in a carefully curated setting with controlled capacity.

The event will combine informative talks on the phenomenon, safety guidance, guided viewing with solar telescopes and a dinner accompanied by ambient music – with shaded areas and a live stream available to follow each phase of the eclipse.

Sizigia Gathering Eclipse Festival in Alcalá de Gurrea (Huesca)

By the shores of the La Sotonera reservoir – between Huesca and Zaragoza – the Sizigia Gathering will take place from 10 to 14 August, blending underground music with a strong spiritual focus. The open landscape, with its clear horizons, will allow attendees to experience the eclipse from elevated viewpoints close to the water.

The festival features multiple stages, art installations and dedicated spaces for holistic therapies and workshops. Conceived as a community gathering, the experience centres on connection with nature and a shared sense of cosmic alignment.

PlayAbout Radio (Ibiza)

Ibiza could hardly be left out. The island – an international byword for partying and mega clubs – will host a special edition of the PlayAbout Radio Fest from 10 to 14 August, focused on house and techno music. The programme will unfold across multiple venues around the island.

One of the most striking moments will be a boat party held during the eclipse – with house music providing the soundtrack at sea. Visibility will vary by location, however, particularly along the east coast, where the western horizon is more restricted – making the choice of setting especially important.

Umbra Festival in Agolada (Pontevedra)

In the parish of Brocos, at the foot of the Portodemouros reservoir, the Umbra Festival will deliver an immersive experience set within Galician nature. While the moment of totality will be brief, the waterside location promises a distinctive spectacle as the sky darkens for a few fleeting seconds.

Organised by collectives linked to the electronic music scene, the event will run over several days with a strong focus on community and environmental awareness. Facilities will include a free camping area, glamping options and space for camper vans, encouraging an extended stay in the landscape.
