1. Viña Rock
Viña Rock takes place at the end of April in Villarrobledo (Albacete). It’s now in its 22nd year and continues to cause a sensation. This festival has room for a multitude of artists who perform on a total of six stages – hip hop, rock, reggae and much more.
2. Primavera Sound
It started in 2001 and since then it hasn’t stopped collecting followers, becoming one of the best known urban and independent music festivals in Spain. It is usually held between May and June in the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.
3. Festival de les Arts
It's only just starting off, but the Festival de les Arts is quickly becoming a high-profile event. It happens at the beginning of June, this year on the 8th and 9th, in an incomparable setting, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, and hosts the best indie music groups.
4. FIB
FIB is a festival that is held in Benicassim, also in the municipality of Valencia, and includes different musical styles, including electronic, rock, indie and pop music. The camping grounds open on the second Tuesday of July every year and the music groups turn up two days later. As it hosts well-known groups, it is recommendable to buy tickets in advance.
5. Mad Cool
Mad Cool organises concerts of international artists, emerging bands and young talents who are just starting out. It also takes place at the beginning of July and, although it only opened its doors recently, it has become a much-anticipated event in the music-lover’s calendar.
6. Bilbao BBK Live
Bilbao BBK Live has been in operation since 2006 in the city of Bilbao and its stages have seen international artists of the stature of The Killers and Depeche Mode. It brings a pretty big turnout, starting at the beginning of July and lasting for 3 days, this year from 12th-14th, when it champions its musical style of pop-rock.
7. Arenal Sound
Another highly acclaimed music festival is the 6-day Arenal Sound. It is a massive event that takes place in Borriana, a municipality of Valencia. It is held during the first days of August and its stages are equipped with the best and most current electronic and independent music around.
8. Medusa Sunbeach Festival
Medusa Sunbeach Festival is held on the beach of Cullera (Valencia). Every year the number of spectators increases thanks to the variety of musical styles on offer (electronic, dance, indie and pop-rock). It takes place in the first half of August and lasts for approximately 7 days.
