The Spain Classic Raid is an off-road car rally for classic vehicles which is held annually in Spain. The 2019 edition will represent the sixth year in a row that this event has been held, running from 30th March to 6th April 2019. Each edition attracts numerous participants and spectators from all over the world.

What are the rules of the Spain Classic Raid?

The regulations for the competition are very simple: the race is always disputed in cars which are over 25 years old, but they have to be able to travel over a variety of terrains, including stones, mud, sand and water.

Various prizes are given out during the course of the rally race, including trophies for the overall winner, plus awards for the winner of each day’s run and for the different categories of vehicle that take part.

The entrance fee to participate in the Spain Classic Raid 2019 starts at 200 euro for one day and goes up to 2,300 euro for the full 8 days. Included in the full price are luxury 4- and 5-star hotels for the contestants to sleep in each night.

What is the course for the Spain Classic Raid 2019?

The route that the race takes covers a total of 2,300 kilometres (1,430 miles) and changes each year. This year it will start up in the north of Spain in Barcelona and go all the way down the eastern coast to Almería before doubling back up to Madrid.

Here is the full itinerary of the Spain Classic Raid locations for the 2019 edition:

  • Saturday 30th March: The first day of the race starts at 10 am in the Puerto Olímpico in Barcelona and finishes in the Paseo Marítimo in Salou.
  • Sunday 31st March: From Salou’s Paseo Marítimo to the city of Teruel.
  • Monday 1st April: From Teruel to Valencia.
  • Tuesday 2nd April: From Valencia to Murcia.
  • Wednesday 3rd April: From Murcia to the mineral deposit by the port of Almería.
  • Thursday 4th April: From the sea at Almería, the race turns inland through the desert landscape of the Sierra de Cazorla natural park.
  • Friday 5th April: From Cazorla to Ciudad Real.
  • Saturday 6th April: The last stage of the race goes from Ciudad Real to the Spanish capital, Madrid.
