Eurostars Hotel Company, a division of the Hotusa Group, has announced plans to open two new hotels in the Basque Country over the next two years. The chain will debut the Eurostars Villa Itziar in San Sebastián during summer of 2025, followed by the Eurostars Bilbao at the close of 2026. Both properties will operate under lease agreements, reflecting the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its presence in the Spanish market.
The addition of these two hotels represents a significant milestone for Eurostars in its national expansion, enhancing a network that already comprises over 180 establishments across Spain. With a four-star rating, the San Sebastián and Bilbao locations will cater to urban travellers, offering a blend of comfort and high-quality experiences in two of Spain’s most vibrant and rapidly growing tourist destinations.
In Bilbao, renovation work is already underway on the historic building that will house the future Eurostars Bilbao. Located in the iconic Deusto neighbourhood on the banks of the Nervión River, the property, known locally as Famavisa, is being completely refurbished under the direction of the AjuriaguerraTRES studio. Once completed, the hotel will feature 75 rooms alongside spacious common areas. Its grand opening is scheduled for late 2026.
Meanwhile, in San Sebastián, the future Eurostars Villa Itziar is taking shape on Paseo de la Fe, just minutes from the renowned Paseo de la Concha. This luxury hotel, designed by the Fiark studio, will boast 27 rooms, a gym, a restaurant, an outdoor pool, a garden, and an exclusive rooftop bar offering panoramic views of the bay and the Cantabrian Sea. The hotel is set to welcome its first guests in the summer 2025.
The president of Grupo Hotusa, Amancio López, has shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming debut of the group’s first hotels in the Basque Country. "Bilbao and San Sebastián are both extraordinary destinations that have experienced remarkable tourism growth over the past decade. We aim to contribute to this progress with a high-quality offering that enhances visitors' experiences. We look forward to further expanding in the region with new initiatives that reaffirm our commitment to tourism excellence," he stated.
These projects reinforce Eurostars’ position as a leader in the Spanish market, underlining its growth strategy centred on premium urban hotels.
