Catalonia Hotels & Resorts is once again investing in Málaga, having committed €24 million to the renovation of three historic buildings in the city centre. These have been transformed into a four-star hotel, blending modern comfort with the charm of the original architecture.
The company states that the renovation has been “meticulously carried out to preserve the historical value of the buildings,” with careful conservation of the façades and key decorative features, including lintels, friezes and balconies with cast-iron railings.
The Catalonia Puerta del Mar offers 74 rooms, each designed with a warm, minimalist aesthetic, according to the hotel. They are also equipped with innovative home automation technology, including Bluetooth music playback and a touch panel for room access notifications.
The hotel also includes a fully equipped gym and a distinctive gastrobar, where guests can personalise their dishes at a live show-cooking station.
Despite its city centre location, the hotel's entrance is noteworthy, framed by a stunning arch of bougainvillaea, vibrant violet flowers that create a striking and welcoming feature.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the company states that all irrigation water is supplied via an automatic drip system, helping to reduce water consumption. The hotel also features LED lighting throughout, a Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning system, and various other technologies designed to minimise energy use.
This is the company’s second establishment in Málaga city centre and its fourth in the province, reflecting Catalonia’s commitment to the Costa del Sol and the growing interest of its guests in the region.
