Richard Gere, the Hollywood legend known for classics such as Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman, is enjoying one of the most settled periods of his personal life. His bond with Spain remains strong, even though he recently moved back to New York after spending a period living there.
Even so, Gere and his family keep up an active routine in Madrid, taking part in charitable events and maintaining several impressive properties. Here, we look at where Richard Gere lives in Spain, including his homes in an exclusive Madrid development and on the Galician coast.
Richard Gere's main residence is in La Moraleja
Richard Gere’s main refuge in Spain is in the exclusive La Moraleja complex, in Alcobendas – one of Madrid’s most prestigious residential areas.
The property is a spectacular mansion purchased for around €11 million, set on a plot of more than 10,000 square metres, surrounded by expansive gardens and offering exceptional privacy and security.
This detached home stands out for its scale, elegant design and advanced security features, including several-metre-high perimeter walls, surveillance cameras and a guardhouse. Alongside its landscaped grounds, the mansion provides generous spaces for both family life and social gatherings.
What's La Moraleja like?
Since the mid-20th century, La Moraleja has built a reputation as one of the most exclusive residential areas in Europe. Its tree-lined streets, surrounded by green spaces and golf courses, are dotted with grand mansions set on plots ranging from 2,500 to 10,000 square metres.
One of La Moraleja’s main draws is its exceptional location: just 15 minutes from central Madrid and close to the airport, it offers both convenience and seclusion. Security is another defining feature, overseen by private companies linked to the local residents.
The price per square metre in La Moraleja is among the highest in Spain. According to reports from September 2025, the average cost of buying a home in the area is around €6,600 per square metre.
Where does Richard Gere live in Galicia?
In addition to their home in Madrid, Richard Gere and his wife, who was born in Galicia, have also invested in northern Spain by purchasing an iconic mansion near Bastiagueiro beach, on the outskirts of A Coruña. This is the historic Casa Cervigón, a Galician Modernist landmark.
Built in the 1920s and valued at around €10 million, the property sits on the seafront with direct access to the beach and sweeping views over the Ría do Burgo estuary. It boasts a large garden, swimming pool and dedicated leisure areas.
The mansion he sold in Connecticut
Before settling in Spain with Alejandra Silva, Richard Gere lived in a spectacular mansion in New Canaan, Connecticut. Originally purchased from musicians Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, the property served as a haven for the actor for several years.
In 2024, Gere and his family sold the estate to begin a new chapter in Spain. However, after a year and a half in the country, they chose to return to New York in September 2025 due to the actor’s professional commitments.
Richard Gere's family
Richard Gere’s family is a central pillar in his life. Married since 2018 to Alejandra Silva from A Coruña, he shares his day-to-day life with their two children and Alejandra’s eldest son, along with frequent visits from Gere’s own eldest son.
