The Paraguas Group, behind renowned restaurants like Amazónico, Ten con Ten and El Paraguas, has opened Club Metrópolis in Madrid’s iconic Metrópolis building. The space combines fine dining, a boutique hotel and a terrace with unrivalled views of the city, all beneath the emblematic dome topped by the Winged Victory, a symbol of Madrid’s skyline.

“We have been working on this project for more than five years, preparing for this moment. A significant investment has gone into the space. Opening the doors of Club Metrópolis is also opening the doors of a historic, monumental building that has witnessed the passage of time,” said Antonio Menéndez, director of Club Metrópolis.

The Paraguas Group will officially open the club next Thursday, exactly one week after the 115th anniversary of the building’s official inauguration on 21 January. “This opening is a great responsibility for us,” Menéndez added.

After more than five years of work, the 6,000-square-metre building now houses a private club and a boutique hotel. This marks the first venture into hospitality for the owners of Ten con Ten and Amazónico, among others, with the hotel set to open on 2 February. The hotel will feature 19 rooms, occupying the third and fourth floors of the building.

The club will also include public areas open to all Madrid residents, including the ground floor. “We want to show the world what Madrid is like, and highlight our food, wines, art and music. That’s why the club’s slogan is "Time to Live" – it’s a space where people can feel comfortable, enjoy themselves, and experience the energy of the Paraguas Group. Its success will lie in that blend of private and public spaces,” Menéndez emphasised.

On the food front, the lower level – open to the public – features the Lobster Spa, dedicated to the finest live seafood, complete with a "pool" of lobsters, alongside a dance area with a DJ.

For members, the Victoria Restaurant on the first floor offers haute cuisine, showcasing both technique and premium ingredients. The floor also houses the Time Room, a private space with a striking coloured dome that can be booked by members and shares Victoria’s menu.

The second floor, La Galería, is the club’s most social area, serving snacks, light dishes and shareable plates as its core offerings, alongside à la carte options.

Menéndez noted that the only area not opening until spring is the “enormous” sixth-floor terrace overlooking Gran Vía and Alcalá, crowned by the iconic Winged Victory, which will be exclusive to club members.

There, El Jardín, an open-air terrace, will celebrate the grill and barbecue, while La Cúpula, beneath the Winged Victory, will become an experiential space dedicated to cocktails.

1,500 members already

The building also houses an exclusive club spanning two floors, which already has a waiting list after memberships sold out at the end of last year. Even before its official opening, the club boasts 1,500 members, with an annual fee of €3,500 and a registration fee of €2,000.

The club aims to become a leading international private space, on a par with those in London or New York. Members will enjoy over 200 experiences a year, including trips and getaways, private events and parties, as well as activities focused on music, performing arts, food, wine and other areas of art, culture, health and well-being.

Concepts with purpose and soul

Marta Seco, founder of the Paraguas Group alongside her husband Sandro Silva, emphasised that the premier restaurant group aims to create “concepts that have a purpose, a soul, and something more to say.” “Above all, we want our spaces to have soul, where people feel welcomed and embraced,” she added.

“From a culinary perspective, I don’t think there’s another venue offering such variety in such a compact space: seven different dining concepts across 7,000 square metres. Wine, which is so important to us, will also take centre stage – hence Sandro’s focus on The Library concept – ensuring it plays a leading role here,” she noted.

Sandro Silva described Metropolis as a “very special building.” “This isn’t just another project; it’s something that begins on Thursday and will last forever. It’s a building that tells the story of the people of Madrid, of the energy we have. There’s no better building,” he said.

“Metropolis is a journey through Madrid – through its lifestyle, its way of connecting people and its joie de vivre. Each floor has its own life, its own rhythm and its own personality. Different experiences happen in every space here,” Silva emphasised.

With this opening, the Paraguas Group further consolidates its position as a benchmark of haute cuisine, thanks to restaurants such as El Paraguas, Amazónico, Ten con Ten, Quintín, Numa Pompilio, The Jungle Jazz Club and The Library, among others.

Internationally, the group has expanded through Amazónico, with locations in London, Dubai, Monte Carlo and Miami – the latter opening last September.
