A survey carried out by the Organisation of Consumers and Users in Spain (OCU) among citizens of the 15 largest Spanish cities has put together its very own Spain quality of life index. Among the variables analysed are mobility, public safety, health and education services, pollution, the labour market, the cost of living, urban cleanliness and also housing. The OCU survey has placed Vigo (Galicia) at the top of the quality of life ranking, followed by Zaragoza (Aragón) and Bilbao (the Basque Country), making these some of the best places to live in Spain.
Vigo, the city with the best quality of life in Spain
The Galician city of Vigo stands out for its good ratings in terms of safety, cleanliness, education, environment and pollution, according to the survey. Those who took part also stated that Vigo is also one of the best cities in Spain for families with children, as its leisure, sports and cultural offerings. On the other hand, Vigo also has some weaknesses, such as the labour and real estate market which didn't score as well.
The citizens of Zaragoza, Valladolid, Valencia and Cordoba are those who have the most positive perception of the variety of housing, its accessibility and price according to the Spain quality of life index. Overall, Madrid, Barcelona and Palma occupy the last three positions in terms of quality of life.
