Grupo Insur and the Cosentino family office, owners of the Silestone brand, have partnered to develop 125 homes within the Macenas Mediterranean Resort in Mojacar, Almeria. This €39.5 million sustainable residential project will blend seamlessly into the landscape, offering sea views and communal areas designed to foster relaxation and a healthy lifestyle.
“Together with Grupo Insur, we continue to transform this prime area of Macenas into a sustainable destination on the Mediterranean coast,” said Álvaro de la Haza, director of the Cosentino Family Office.
Grupo Insur's general manager, Francisco Pumar, emphasised that "the design and implementation of Las Terrazas will enhance residents' quality of life, creating a community focused on well-being and sustainability".
Las Terrazas will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, all with terraces facing the Mediterranean. Penthouses and ground-floor apartments with gardens, including options for private swimming pools, will also be available.
The Macenas Mediterranean Resort will feature extensive communal areas, including a heated pool, outdoor infinity pool, solarium, social club, and chill-out area. Residents will also have access to the Social Club, which was inaugurated last summer and includes restaurants, a swimming pool, a lounge, sports facilities, shops, and a wellness centre. The club's sports and health facilities offer services such as nutrition counselling, physiotherapy, yoga, and fitness training.
The resort also boasts an 18-hole golf course designed by Stirling & Martin, which incorporates local natural elements to create a botanical garden atmosphere.
Las Terrazas is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027, offering seafront homes arranged as a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean.
News on the complex
The Macenas Mediterranean Resort, acquired by the Cosentino family after the 2008 crisis, is a testament to their commitment to enhancing the area's environmental and cultural heritage. Located between the Sierra de Cabrera protected area and the Mediterranean, near the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, the resort’s architecture is designed to harmonise with its natural surroundings and prioritise self-sufficiency. The resort's water system will be fully circular, utilising its own treatment plant, and powered entirely by renewable energy.
Macenas Mediteranean Resort
Macenas Mediterranean Resort is a residential, tourist and sports project, born with the ambition of becoming a renowned Spanish and international destination. The project is committed to sustainability and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of this enclave located in Mojácar.
With an estimated total investment of more than €200 million and the initial creation of 180 direct jobs and 320 indirect jobs, the Cosentino family's long-term plan is to create value for Almeria. Rafael de la-Hoz started implementing the plan in 2022 with investment in the water purification system infrastructure and expanding the electrical capacity.
The Social Club, which was fully refurbished and reopened in 2023, is just the beginning. Plans include the construction of a five-star hotel and the restoration of the Stirling & Martin-designed 18-hole golf course. Additional real estate developments will range from single-family homes to multi-family residences, aiming to create a low-density, high-value community with up to 1,000 homes throughout the complex.
