Goodbye to grey maps: idealista launches multi-area home searches

In recent years, millions of people have bought, rented or sold their home on idealista using our grey maps. Now we’re introducing a new way to search for property by allowing you to select multiple areas at the same time, giving users a range of possibilities that didn’t previously exist in the Spanish market.

With this new feature, available on both the website and the app, users can select several areas in a single search — comfortably, flexibly and fully tailored to their real needs.

A new way of searching for homes on idealista

Until now, anyone wanting to search in more than one area had two options: draw a single area on the map when zones were contiguous, or run several searches separately. Many users were asking for a simpler solution.

This new feature makes it possible. You can now combine different areas in one single search, even if they are not adjacent, and manage everything from the same experience. For example, you can search for property in the municipality of Madrid while also including the entire province of Cáceres and Málaga city centre at the same time.

What makes this feature unique

This isn’t just an improvement — it’s a change of paradigm. It stands apart from any similar tool thanks to two key pillars:

Freedom of selection

You can combine areas without limits, mixing neighbourhoods, districts, municipalities and even provinces. That means you can search, for example, in neighbouring districts across different municipalities or in several towns at once, adapting the search to your real needs.

Ease of use

The experience is simple and intuitive: you can add areas with a single click from the map and access the feature from different parts of the platform. It has also been tested with real users to ensure smooth, friction-free navigation.

The new experience is designed to give you full control:
