Here's everything you need to know about this medieval market on the Costa del Sol and how long it will be on.

The medieval market at Castillo de la Duquesa

The market takes place around the Castillo de la Duquesa, a historic fortress on the Mediterranean shoreline in Manilva. During the event, the castle surroundings are transformed with wooden stalls, colourful banners and a lively atmosphere inspired by the Middle Ages.

Visitors can browse leather goods, ceramics, jewellery, wooden toys and natural cosmetics, among other handmade products. Many artisans demonstrate their craft on site, offering a glimpse into traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations.

The experience is rounded off with food stalls serving grilled meats, cheeses, cured meats and sweets, alongside parades featuring musicians, jugglers and characters dressed in period costume.

Castillo de la Duquesa

The setting is one of the event's biggest draws. Castillo de la Duquesa was built in the 18th century as part of a coastal defence network designed to protect the shoreline from pirate attacks.

The fortress stands on a site with a much older history, having been built over the remains of a Roman villa. Today, the complex is listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Property of Cultural Interest) and ranks among Manilva's most important historic landmarks.
