The Regional Government in Madrid has given the go-ahead to the Central Government's 250 euro monthly rental subsidy for young people under the age of 35 who rent a property or a room in the region. This means that the 250 euro rental allowance is to be introduced in Madrid in the coming months, following what has already been the case in other Spanish regions.
Madrid has authorised the investment of 31.8 million euros to implement this housing programme, as detailed by the Vice President and Minister of Education and Universities, Enrique Ossorio, at a press conference. The announcement will be made official when published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM).
This subsidy will be granted for a period of 2 years, up to a maximum of 6,000 euros spread over 24 monthly payments. The rent of the flat must be equal to or less than 600 euros per month. In the case of renting a room, the price must be equal to or less than 300 euros per month.
The regional government, through the Regional Ministry of the Environment, Housing and Agriculture, has extended these maximum limits in 29 municipalities to 900 euros/month in the case of renting a property and 450 euros/month in the case of renting a room, so that more people can access this monthly grant.
