A new squatting case in Calvià, Mallorca, has once again highlighted the insecurity faced by homeowners.

The story begins in August 2024, when an affluent family rented a luxury property with a private swimming pool for €3,000 a month. In October 2025, however, the Danish tenant finished with his partner and returned to his home country, leaving his ex, a Cuban woman, and her two young children in the property.

Since October last year, the man has stopped paying the rent. The woman, who does not appear on the tenancy agreement, has also failed to pay rent despite continuing to occupy the property.

The situation escalated when the homeowner reported it to the Civil Guard, alleging that threats had been made from inside the house by the squatter. According to court documents cited by Okdiario, phrases such as “Watch where you're walking” and One day you’ll turn around and get a surprise” were reported to have been used.

This latest case of illegal occupation has once again drawn attention to Calvià, not only because a luxury property is involved, but it has also emerged that one of the minors is enrolled in a private school charging €1,000 per pupil per month.

In addition, the property owner states that she is covering monthly bills exceeding €1,000 for electricity, water, gas and community fees.

Legal proceedings remain ongoing, and no eviction date has yet been set. Meanwhile, the woman and her children continue to live in the luxury property without paying rent or fulfilling any contractual obligations, making this one of the most high-profile squatting cases currently unfolding in Mallorca.
