Using data from World Weather Online, the results show that Spain is clearly one of the sunniest places in Europe, as it dominates the top 10. But surprisingly, Spain's sunny coast, the Costa del Sol, doesn't come in first place, with Costa Blanca's Alicante taking the title of the sunniest city in Europe. Where in Spain has the best weather? The best climate in Spain and the most sunshine is found in Alicante on the Costa Blanca. With an average of 349 hours of sunshine per month, it's easy to see why so many expats choose to move to Alicante, not to mention the city's lively culture scene, great nightlife and an endless list of historical sights to visit.
The next Spanish city in the list is Murcia which comes in third place, behind the Italian city of Catania. Close behind in 4th place is Málaga, the first and only appearance of the Costa del Sol in the ranking, with 345 hours of sun per month. The top 10 sunniest cities in Europe is completed by Messina (Italy), Valencia (Spain), Nice (France), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria, Spain), Granada (Spain) and Palermo (Italy).
