There will be a total of 14 non-recoverable, paid and mandatory public holidays in Spain in 2023. Of these, 12 are national and regional holidays. Public holidays that can be substituted in the 2023 working calendar

The four days that the Spanish autonomous communities can maintain as public holidays or, on the contrary, substitute them for others, are:

  • Monday 2nd January: 1st January, New Year's Day, falls on a Sunday, therefore, the holiday is moved to Monday, 2nd January.
  • Friday 6th January: Epiphany or the Three Kings' Day.
  • Sunday 19th March: Father's Day, which falls on a Sunday and is moved to either Monday 20th March or Tuesday 25th July, St James's Day.
  • Thursday 6th April: Maundy Thursday.
