The renowned Neapolitan pizzas of L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele, established in 1870 in Naples and featured in the film Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts, are expanding internationally.
Following its successful debut in Barcelona in 2017, the pizzeria – considered one of the best in Naples – is set to open its first location in Madrid this September.
The new restaurant will be located in the heart of the Salamanca district, on Calle Jorge Juan, 42, according to the company's social media profile. It also has restaurants in Badalona and Ibiza.
The firm left Naples to open its first branch in Rome and has branches in almost all Italian cities such as Milan, Verona, Palermo, Florence, Turin, Genoa and Como, among others.
Internationally, Da Michele pizzas can be found in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Dubai, Singapore, Libya, Riyadh, Manchester, Amsterdam, New York and Geneva.
Da Michele is one of the most famous pizzerias in Naples – the birthplace of pizza – where hundreds of people flock every day to enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza: made with thin fior di latte dough, cooked in a wood-fired oven and served piping hot.
Da Michele's challenge is to bring to Madrid the essence, the formula and the same products that have made it one of the most famous and award-winning pizzerias in the world, even becoming the setting for films such as Eat, Pray, Love, in which Julia Roberts discovers Da Michele's Margherita pizza.
