If you’re seeking a picturesque cove for diving or snorkelling, Cala Fornells is an ideal choice. Nestled on Mallorca’s southwest coast, in the heart of the so-called “virtuous triangle,” this petite 80-metre beach enchants visitors with its soft white sand, crystal-clear waters and natural setting shaded by pine trees.
A beautiful cove in the heart of the "virtuous triangle"
Cala Fornells takes its name from the surrounding area and is a small yet charming beach near Punta de na Sardana. From here, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the beaches of Peguera and Santa Ponça, as well as the nearby cove of Caló de ses Llisses.
Although bordered by holiday rentals, residential homes and a handful of restaurants, the atmosphere remains relatively tranquil, with nature taking the lead. Pine trees fringe the shoreline, while a rocky outcrop defines the beach’s right-hand side.

Here you’ll find coarse-grained white sand lapped by crystal-clear waters, along with an artificial sundeck created by the neighbouring hotel.
This cove is a must-visit when in Mallorca, forming part of the so-called "virtuous triangle" with Caló de ses Llises and Caló d’en Monjo. Adding to its charm, this stretch of coastline also marks the natural boundary between Calvià and Andratx.
Diving, hiking and relaxation in Cala Fornells
With its crystal-clear waters and vibrant seabed, the cove is ideal for diving or snorkelling. Visitors can also explore the surrounding nature on foot, or simply unwind on the sand and cool off with a refreshing swim.
The local cuisine is another highlight, with a variety of restaurants that provide all the essentials for a memorable stay – without the excesses often found in other coastal resorts. Everything you might need is close at hand.
For sailing enthusiasts, the sea and seabed conditions here, exposed to easterly, south-easterly and southerly winds, make the cove suitable for anchoring. That said, Caló de ses Llises offers greater protection and is therefore a safer option. The Santa Ponça Nautical Club is also conveniently located just 2.5 nautical miles away.
Visitors often praise Cala Fornells for its cleanliness and well-preserved, natural beauty – a testament to respectful tourism and the absence of large crowds.
