The housing construction sector in Spain is becoming increasingly sustainable and efficient, offering more and more examples of designs and buildings that seek to apply zero carbon or carbon neutral and highly efficient construction measures. One such example is this luxury villa project in Mijas, Malaga, which will run on hydrogen and solar energy to achieve self-sufficiency and maximum cost savings through concrete block construction.
According to its developers, Mediterranean Homes, it will be the first off-grid Creo ICF Hydrogen Home on the Costa del Sol, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, and will feature some of the most innovative renewable technology available.
In addition, it will use the Creo ICF concrete walling system, accredited by the British Board of Agrément (BBA). This is a system designed for partition, including internal and external walls that are placed 'in-situ' on site, allowing for reduced construction time and labour costs.
The first hydrogen-powered villa in Malaga includes a heated infinity pool, large garage, storage room, interior courtyard, gym with indoor pool, fully fitted modern kitchen and a spacious reception area.
Construction has already commenced on the property and is likely to be completed within 12 months once a buyer is found. At this stage, the buyer has the opportunity to work with the interior design team to create their personalised dream home.
