Billionaire Richard Branson has just opened a new luxury hotel in Mallorca. The project had been on his mind for 20 years and is coming to fruition at the Son Bunyola boutique hotel. The huge estate of forest and farmland on the northwest coast of the island has 26 impressive rooms and three luxury villas. Rooms start at €1,050 a night.
With more than 520 hectares, Virgin's owner discovered this 16th-century palace tucked away in the Mallorcan Tramuntana, surrounded by rugged coastline, olive groves, vineyards and exquisite natural beauty. After more than 20 years of obtaining the necessary permits, he has transformed the building into Son Bunyola, a new destination part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection of hotels and establishments for the affluent.
Virgin Limited Edition has eight luxury hotels, from Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands to the Mahali Mzuri safari camp in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Although these destinations are much more exclusive, costing from $2,550 (€2,325) a night at Mahali Mzuri to $113,000 (€103,000) for a reservation on the 40-person private island in the Caribbean.
This new luxury hotel features 26 stunning rooms and suites, two restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub with unrivalled sea views, spa treatment rooms and plenty of trails to explore on foot or by bike.
Son Bunyola also includes three luxury villas, Sa Terra Rotja, Sa Punta de S'Aguila and Son Balagueret, available for exclusive rental all year round.
