Colliers ramps up its commitment to luxury housing and opens an office in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

According to idealista/news, the real estate consultancy firm chose Bulevar Príncipe Alfonso de Hohenlohe on Marbella's Golden Mile for this new space. This branch will manage property sales to private individuals and advise developers and investors to develop new high-end residential, hotel and retail projects.

Ana Gavilanes, head of the Marbella branch of Colliers, explained to idealista/news that from this branch, "we are going to cover the whole of the Costa del Sol, a market where transactions have tripled in recent years". In 2019, luxury property sales in this area moved around €670 million, and by 2022, the figure had already exceeded €1.9 billion.

According to the consultant's calculations, more than €2 billion is in residential projects, with homes worth more than €1 million in the marketing phase. According to Gavilanes, these figures show the potential of the prime real estate market on the Costa del Sol.

"The luxury market is different and counter-cyclical. It has a solid and sustained demand over time," noted the head of the new Colliers branch, adding that "Marbella, known for its exclusive properties and sophisticated lifestyle, is a prime destination for buyers in this residential market segment".

The Costa del Sol's buyer profile includes Spanish or foreign individuals up to 45 years old, mostly with children.

Potential foreign buyers include Latin Americans (from Mexicans to Colombians, Venezuelans, Argentinians and Peruvians), as well as by Americans, Europeans (British, Dutch and Nordic nationals), and Middle Eastern buyers. In the medium term, the Asian profile is also expected to become more prominent.

Average price: €3 million

The average price of the high-end properties being marketed by Colliers on the Costa del Sol is around €3 million, although the most exclusive villas reach €20 million, and the most affordable units are flats for sale for €1 million.

Among its projects are 14 Homes, a residential villa development in Sotogrande with prices from €1.5 million, and Vista Lago, a private development in Real de la Quinta with properties starting at €6 million. It also has flats in Sierra Blanca Tower, the new housing towers in Malaga designed by the Lamela architect studio.

Most of the properties on offer are new builds, which is the type in which the consultancy specialises. However, it also has refurbished properties and second-hand homes available, especially in those locations where the supply of new developments is scarce.

According to Gavilanes, the most exclusive properties in the area are those located on the beachfront, although they are not always the most sought-after, as some buyers prefer inland areas with more privacy.
