The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who attended the opening ceremony, described the hotel as a "flagship and iconic" establishment for the city, stating "categorically" that it is "one of the best in Europe."

"This hotel transports us to a Madrid of excellence, quality, and high-impact tourism. We will continue working to attract this type of tourism, which generates wealth and value," he added.

The property is currently owned by US luxury hotel operator Marriott International and the Singapore government's hotel investment vehicle, Archer Hotel Capital. Its refurbishment was essential for transitioning the hotel from the Westin brand to The Luxury Collection.

Hotel renovation

Despite undergoing renovation for nearly two years, the hotel has remained open throughout, with work carried out in stages, as Flores has confirmed. The number of rooms has not changed, remaining at 470, including 50 suites.

One of the most significant aspects of the renovation was the dome's restoration, with nearly 1,900 crystals carefully restored one by one.

A new addition is the 27 Club restaurant, a tribute to the artists of the era who frequented the historic hotel.

Despite the renovation, the styles and finishes characteristic of the period, which stood out in 1912 when the hotel was founded, have been preserved.

The extensive refurbishment is evident in the rooms, where the design and style are inspired by the Botanical Garden, creating a sense of nature and greenery.
