Nico Williams was born in Pamplona, where his family began a new chapter as his older brother, Iñaki, was preparing to start school. During their first years there, they lived in the Rochapea area before later moving to Buztintxuri.
At the age of six, he joined San Jorge, a club in his home city. He later played for CD Pamplona, where he was alongside Iñaki, and continued his development in Osasuna’s youth ranks. Before joining Athletic, his family moved to Bilbao to stay together.

Nico Williams’ parents, María and Félix, are from Ghana. In 1994, they began a difficult journey to Europe. María was pregnant with Iñaki when the pair completed part of the journey on foot, including across the Sahara Desert.
After arriving in Melilla, the family received help to settle in Spain. Following a period in Bilbao, they eventually made their home in Pamplona, where Nico was born in 2002. For years, María balanced several jobs to support her sons, while Félix worked in London and sent money home.
