Beyond its coves and vibrant nightlife, Ibiza is an island of cliffs, watchtowers and historic walls – true balconies over the Mediterranean. From these viewpoints, the landscape shifts throughout the day – with light transforming the coastline in striking ways. Here are some of Ibiza’s best viewpoints – offering unforgettable panoramic scenery.

Punta Galera

On the west coast, near Cala Salada, Punta Galera stands out for its unique geology, with flat rock platforms rising from the sea to form natural terraces. These stone levels provide wide, open views over the horizon and surrounding cliffs.

There are no facilities or beach access, helping preserve a peaceful atmosphere even in peak season. It remains one of the most popular spots to watch the sunset – away from crowds and noise.

Sa Talaia viewpoint

If you are wondering which is the highest viewpoint in Ibiza, Sa Talaia holds that distinction at 475 metres above sea level. Located in the municipality of Sant Josep, it offers far-reaching views across much of the island – and, on clear days, even as far as Formentera on the horizon.

You can drive close to the summit and complete the final stretch on foot – with early morning and late afternoon offering quieter conditions. From the top, the contrast between pine forests, fields and the coastline becomes particularly striking.

Savinar Tower

Commonly known as the Pirate Tower, Torre des Savinar stands on the south-west coast, offering a direct view of the islet of Es Vedrà. From this vantage point, one of Ibiza’s most iconic scenes comes into view – with the rocky silhouette rising dramatically from the sea.

Access involves a moderately challenging walk from the Cala d’Hort area, along an unpaved path, so sturdy footwear and water are recommended. At sunset, the changing light highlights the contours of Es Vedrà.

Las Puertas del Cielo (Gates of Heaven)

In the north of the island, at Sa Penya Esbarrada in Santa Agnès de Corona, lies the viewpoint known as the "Gates of Heaven". This natural balcony forms part of the protected Es Amunts area – with open views over the sea and the islets of Ses Margalides.

Access is straightforward, both by car and on foot, from Pla de Corona. In summer, the sun sets over the horizon, making it one of the most peaceful spots to watch the sunset on Ibiza.

Dalt Vila

The Renaissance walls of Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town offer a unique viewpoint – combining history with sweeping coastal views. From bastions such as Santa Llúcia, you can look out over the port, marina and, on clear days, the outline of Formentera.

This is a central and easily accessible option, where a stroll through the old town at sunset reveals panoramic views without leaving the city.

Cap Negret viewpoint

North of Sant Antoni, the Cap Negret viewpoint offers a quieter alternative to the island’s busier western spots. Its clifftop setting provides wide, uninterrupted views of the open sea and rugged coastline.

It is particularly recommended at the end of the day, when the sun dips below the horizon, and its distance from the main urban areas allows for a more peaceful sunset experience.
