Madrid Christmas markets: Plaza Mayor, Plaza de España and Recoletos
Madrid has several worthwhile Christmas markets, each with a slightly different feel. Plaza Mayor remains the city’s traditional stop, with 104 stalls run by the Asociación del Mercado Tradicional Navideño de la Plaza Mayor. The market has been operating in the square for more than a century, and its wooden huts focus on decorations, belén figures, festive jokes and costumes, alongside an artisan nativity display.
- Plaza Mayor dates: 27 November to 31 December 2026
- Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 10:00–21:00; Fridays, Saturdays and public-holiday eves, 10:00–22:00
- Look out for: nativity figures, decorations, tree ornaments, novelty hats and Christmas sweets
For a more contemporary set-up, La Navideña returns to Plaza de España between 21 November 2026 and 6 January 2027. It is expected to have around 40 stalls, a 600 m² natural ice rink and a food area.
The Feria Mercado de Artesanía de la Comunidad de Madrid is another useful address for presents that are not mass-produced. It's located on Paseo de Recoletos, with workshops affiliated to the Asociación Madrileña de Oficios Artesanos selling their own work.
Barcelona Christmas markets: Fira de Santa Llúcia
Right in the shadow of Barcelona Cathedral, the Fira de Santa Llúcia is a Catalan classic that began in 1786. Expect plenty of locals hunting down quirky caganer figures, a typical Christmas tradition here, and moss for their nativity scenes.
- Dates: from the end of November until the end of December
- What you can find: unique Catalan crafts, caganers (traditional figurines), moss and greenery for nativity scenes, and sweet roasted chestnuts.
The Three Kings Market on Gran Vía is another option, normally taking place from the 19th of December until the first week of January. Father Christmas makes an appearance, and there are also festive parades. There are around 140 sellers and plenty of present-buying opportunities.
Seville Christmas markets: crafts, nativity scenes and convent sweets
Seville spreads its Christmas events across several central locations. The Feria del Belén is the place for nativity figures and miniature scenes, while the Feria de Artesanía Creativa de Sevilla – Navidad in the Jardines de Cristina gathers local makers working in ceramics, jewellery, textiles and other crafts.
- Feria del Belén: 7 November to 22 December 2026
- Feria de Artesanía Creativa: 5 December 2026 to 5 January 2027
- Mercado de la Alameda de Hércules: 27 November 2026 to 5 January 2027
During the puente de la Inmaculada, the long weekend around 8 December, the Real Alcázar traditionally hosts sales of sweets made by convent communities.
Málaga Christmas markets: Paseo del Parque, Muelle Uno and Calle Larios lights
Málaga’s Christmas programme is one of the broadest in southern Spain. The Calle Larios Christmas lights are due to switch on on 27 November 2026, bringing large evening crowds to the centre.
- The biggest traditional market is the Mercadillo del Paseo del Parque, with close to 100 stalls selling crafts, decorations, gifts and sweets. It is generally expected to operate from late November until just after Reyes.
- Muelle Uno, by the port, is a good alternative for an evening visit. Its market is expected to run from late November until after Reyes, with wooden stalls, festive food and a Father Christmas house.
- The Gran Feria Sabor a Málaga takes place during the December bank-holiday weekend at Paseo del Parque, bringing together producers from across Málaga province.
Valencia Christmas market at the City of Arts and Sciences
In Valencia, the Mercado Navideño de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias is scheduled from 12 December 2026 to 6 January 2027. It takes place in the former Turia riverbed, beside the contemporary buildings.

- Dates: 12 December 2026 to 6 January 2027
- Location: City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia
Zaragoza Christmas market at Plaza del Pilar
Zaragoza’s Christmas Market usually fills Plaza del Pilar, beneath the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, with stalls, food, activities and a large-scale nativity scene. Dates for 2026–27 are not yet confirmed, though the market is expected to return in late November and continue until 6 January 2027.
- Expected dates: late November 2026 to 6 January 2027
- Location: Plaza del Pilar
Granada Christmas markets: Plaza Bib-Rambla and Puerta Real
Granada has two central Christmas markets within about five minutes’ walk of each other. The Plaza Bib-Rambla market, beside the Cathedral, focuses on belenes and opens earlier than many other Spanish Christmas markets. Puerta Real, by the Fuente de las Batallas, hosts a smaller artisan fair with 27 stalls dedicated to crafts including ceramics, leatherwork and silver jewellery.
- Plaza Bib-Rambla nativity market: 14 November 2026 to 6 January 2027
- Puerta Real artisan market: 4 December 2026 to 6 January 2027
