Spain received 9,7 million international tourists in June 2026, a 2.9% increase compared with the same month in 2025. This figure is on track to help break the record of nearly 97 million visitors in 2025. While overall arrivals rose, the accommodation data showed contrasting trends: rental and non-market stays increased, while hotel use declined.
The figures are provisional and were published by Spain’s National Statistics Institute, INE. They exclude transit travellers and same-day visitors who do not stay overnight.
Rental accommodation recorded a double-digit increase
A total of 1,122,703 international tourists used rental accommodation as their main place to stay in June 2026. That was a 10.1% increase year on year.
Across the first six months of 2026, rental accommodation was used by 6,183,931 tourists, up 10.7% compared with the same period in 2025.
Hotel accommodation declined despite higher arrivals
Hotel accommodation remained the main accommodation type used by international tourists, with 6,701,214 visitors in June. However, the number of tourists using hotels fell by 1.7% compared with June 2025.
Overall, market accommodation was used by 8,211,742 tourists, a year-on-year decline of 0.6%.
Private and non-market accommodation recorded the strongest rises
Non-market accommodation was used by 1,534,748 international tourists in June, an increase of 26.8%. The largest increase within this category was in other non-market accommodation, which rose by 56.3% to 128,127 tourists.
Tourists staying in an owned home rose by 38.8%, reaching 535,874, while stays in the homes of relatives or friends increased by 17.4% to 870,748.
Spain welcomed 46.6 million international tourists in the first half of 2026
Between January and June 2026, Spain received 46,567,610 international tourists, an increase of 4.6% year on year.
