The most affordable town in Spain for renting a property is in the province of Jaen. More specifically, Baeza is the town with the most affordable square metre, as landlords ask for an average of €4.30/m2 per month, according to a study by idealista, the real estate marketplace in southern Europe, based on its price report for February 2023.

The top five most affordable towns are another town in Jaen – Linares –  with a monthly rent of €4.70/m2; Puertollano in Ciudad Real (€4.90/m2 per month); Naron in A Coruña (€5/m2 per month) and Lucena in Cordoba (€5.10/m2 per month). They are followed by Valdepeñas in Ciudad Real (€5.10/m2 per month) and a four-way tie between Almansa (Albacete) Ponferrada (Leon), Elda (Alicante) and Ubeda (Jaen) at €5.20/m2 per month, which make up the 'top 10' most affordable towns in Spain to rent a property.

Also with €5.20/m2 per month are Betanzos (A Coruña town) and Plasencia (Caceres), followed by Vila-Real in Castellon (€5.30/m2 per month) and Calatayud in Zaragoza with the same average monthly rent per m2. Next, with a monthly rent of €5.50 per m2 are Motril in Granada, and the Valencian towns of Xativa and Alzira, followed by the €5.60 per m2 in Ferrol (A Coruña), Atarfe (Granada), Talavera de la Reina (Toledo), Langreo (Asturias) and Alcantarilla and Lorca, both in the Region of Murcia. Alcazar de San Juan in Ciudad Real (€5.70/m2) and Utrera in Seville (€5.80/m2) complete the 25 cheapest places to rent.
