The cheapest town in Spain for buying a second-hand home is Almadén, in Ciudad Real, with an average price of just €335/m², according to idealista’s latest price report.

The top three most affordable towns are all in Ciudad Real: Almodóvar del Campo (€427/m²) and Socuéllamos (€460/m²) follow Almadén. Fourth place goes to Leiro in Ourense (€478/m²), with Villacañas in Toledo (€479/m²) rounding out the top five.

Other notable bargains include Argamasilla de Alba, Ciudad Real (€484/m²), Miajadas, Cáceres (€487/m²), and a tie for eighth between Villanueva del Arzobispo, Jaén, and Arroyo de la Luz, Cáceres (€490/m²). El Carpio, Córdoba (€491/m²), completes the list of towns under €500/m².

Crossing the €500 mark are Vélez Blanco, Almería (€506/m²); Arbo, Pontevedra (€510/m²); Corral de Almaguer, Toledo (€513/m²); and Moriles, Córdoba (€516/m²). La Solana, Ciudad Real, and Abarán, Murcia (€523/m²) are tied. The top 20 closes with Íllora, Granada (€528/m²); Llerena, Badajoz (€540/m²); Herencia, Ciudad Real (€542/m²); and Beas de Segura, Jaén (€549/m²).

Price differences between these towns and their regions are striking. Andalusian towns show the largest gaps: Villanueva del Arzobispo and El Carpio at +82%, Vélez Blanco, Moriles, and Íllora at +81%, and Beas de Segura at +80%. The smallest differences are Llerena vs. Extremadura and Herencia vs. Castilla-La Mancha (+47%).

The cheapest town in every autonomous community

idealista also lists the most affordable towns in all 17 autonomous communities. Beyond the top 20, four communities have towns under €700/m²: Ayora, Valencia (€570/m²); Villablino, Castilla y León (€580/m²); Campoo de Enmedio, Cantabria (€655/m²); and Tineo, Asturias (€668/m²).

Next are Caspe, Aragon (€720/m²); Mora d’Ebre, Catalonia (€747/m²); Alfaro, La Rioja (€755/m²); and Cadalso de los Vidrios, Madrid (€999/m²). Above €1,000 are Corella, Navarra (€1,002/m²); Gáldar, Canary Islands (€1,302/m²); Llodio, Basque Country (€2,114/m²); and Lloseta, Balearic Islands (€2,333/m²).
