Torremolinos City Council has launched the sale of five municipal plots, covering nearly 11,500 m², for the construction of over 200 publicly subsidised homes (VPO). According to Málaga’s Councillor for Urban Regeneration, Marina Vázquez, only 100 VPO units have been built in the past 30 years, making this initiative an “important step” towards improving access to affordable housing for many families in this Málaga town. The total value of the plots is close to €9 million.

For the first time in its history, Torremolinos has surpassed the barrier of 70,000 registered inhabitants, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics. This represents an increase of 2.3% compared to 2022 data, with 1,615 new citizens. Specifically, it has reached 70,434 inhabitants, of which 35,225 are women and 35,209 are men. It is worth highlighting the multiculturalism of the city, which already has 125 different nationalities present. Among these, Moroccans, Italians and English are the most numerous, exceeding the barrier of 1,000 inhabitants.
