Amancio Ortega and his daughter Sandra Ortega, Rafael del Pino, Juan Roig and Isak Andic, are the five wealthiest individuals in Spain, according to Forbes Spain's list of "The 100 Richest Spaniards."

In 2024, the combined wealth of Spain's 100 richest people totals €250.4 billion, marking a 27.7% increase from the previous year.

Amancio Ortega, the majority shareholder of Inditex, has held the top position in this ranking for a decade, since 2014. His fortune has grown by 46.9% compared to 2023, reaching a record €120.2 billion, which places him in ninth place among the world’s largest fortunes, just behind the founders of Google.

His daughter, Sandra Ortega (the only woman in the top five) follows him, whose wealth has increased by 46% to €10.4 billion.

Rafael del Pino y Calvo-Sotelo, Chairman of Ferrovial, completes the top three, maintaining last year’s podium position with a fortune now valued at €7.1 billion, up 20% since his company relocated its tax headquarters.

Juan Roig, president of Mercadona, has risen to fourth position, with his wealth growing by 49% to €5.8 billion. The top five is rounded off by Isak Andic, co-founder and president of Mango, whose assets total €4.5 billion.

Four women among Spain's 10 largest fortunes

Last year, only one woman appeared in the top ten of Spain's largest fortunes, but this year Sandra Ortega, who is still Spain's wealthiest woman, is joined by three others. Ranked seventh overall and second among women is María del Pino y Calvo-Sotelo, daughter of Ferrovial’s founder, whose wealth has risen to €3.2 billion – a 28% increase – moving her up five places in this year’s ranking.

In eighth place is Hortensia Herrero, Vice President of Mercadona, who has accumulated a fortune of €3.2 billion, gaining seven places in Spain's 100 largest fortunes since 2023. Rounding out the top ten is Sol Daurella Comadrán, President of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, with €3 billion – a 50% increase over the previous year.

The top ten Spanish fortunes are completed by Juan Carlos Escotet, President of Abanca, who has dropped two places to sixth with €4 billion, and businessman Daniel Maté, who ranks ninth with €3.1 billion.

Notably, the biggest climb in the ranking is by Vicente Boluda, President of the Valencian Association of Businessmen, who rose from 95th to 35th place. This leap is attributed to his purchase of Smit Lamnalco for €800 million, which has made the Valencian shipping company the largest tugboat operator in the world.

Among the new additions to this year’s list is Jesús Núñez of Gesbolsa Inversiones, who enters in 23rd place with a fortune valued at €1.5 billion. Another significant entrant is the Primafrío Group family, with Juan Ignacio Conesa at 67th with €650 million and José Esteban Conesa in 73rd with €550 million.

Meanwhile, Julio Iglesias retains his title as the wealthiest Spanish singer, with a fortune of €750 million, placing him 52nd on the list of "The 100 Richest Spaniards".

Madrid and Catalonia, the land of millionaires

The Community of Madrid solidifies its position as the region with the most fortunes on the Forbes list, boasting a total of 30 entries and an accumulated wealth of €41.4 billion. This marks an increase of two fortunes over 2023 and a 7.39% rise in total wealth.

Catalonia follows closely with 26 fortunes – three fewer than last year – and a combined wealth of €27.2 billion. Meanwhile, Galicia remains the region with the highest total wealth, at €139.025 billion, largely due to the "Ortega effect."

The combined wealth of the Ortega family alone – approximately €133.35 billion – is nearly double the GDP of the Community of Galicia in 2023, which stood at around €69.38 billion.

Meanwhile, the Valencian Community, home to five millionaires, has experienced a significant increase in total wealth, rising from €9.617 billion to €12.450 billion. This growth is largely due to the substantial rise in Vicente Boluda’s fortune and the increased valuation of Mercadona.

Rafa Nadal, Spain's richest athlete

In the world of sport, the wealthiest football-related businessmen remain Juan Carlos Escotet, a shareholder of Deportivo de A Coruña, with €4 billion; Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, with €2.7 billion in 11th place, who has cemented Real Madrid's position as the world's most valuable club, now worth €6.6 billion; and Fernando Roig, president of Villarreal, with €1.6 billion.

Outside of football, tennis player Rafael Nadal, though not in the top 100, is the wealthiest Spanish athlete, with a net worth of €310 million. Among footballers, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Ramos lead with €100 million each.

Another notable addition is MotoGP rider Marc Márquez, whose net worth has reached €80 million, though he, too, is not included in the main ranking.
