School holidays in Spain: 2025-2026 dates

As the 2025–2026 school year approaches, some regions in Spain have already started confirming their term dates. School calendars can be a bit of a minefield here, especially with each autonomous community setting its own schedule on top of the national holidays that everyone enjoys. 

While there are a handful of bank holidays shared across the country, the actual start and finish of the school year, along with various non-teaching days, can shift quite a lot depending on where you live.

National holidays across Spain

These are the main public holidays that all schools across Spain observe, no matter the region:

• 12th October: Spain’s National Day (shifted to 13 October if it falls on a weekend)
• 1st November: All Saints’ Day
• 6th December: Constitution Day
• 8th December: Immaculate Conception
• 1st January: New Year’s Day
• 6th January: Epiphany (Three Kings’ Day)
• 18th April: Good Friday (date changes each year depending on Easter)
• 1st May: Labour Day

Andalucía 2025–2026 school calendar

Andalucía’s school year has staggered starts for different stages, plus several unique local holidays like Día de Andalucía.

• Start of school year: 10th September (Infantil, Primary & Special Ed), 15th September (ESO, Bachillerato & Vocational), 22nd September (Languages & Arts)
• End of school year: 22nd June (Infantil, Primary & Secondary); some sports courses run until 31st July
• Christmas holidays: 23rd December to 6th January
• Easter holidays: 30th March to 5th April
• Regional holidays: 28th February (Andalucía Day), 3rd November, 7th January, 2nd March (Education Community Day); plus up to two local holidays per municipality

Aragón 2025–2026 school calendar

Aragón’s school year kicks off a bit earlier than many regions, and all stages finish together.

• Start of school year: 8th September (Infantil, Primary, Secondary); 10th September (Bachillerato)
• End of school year: 19th June for all stages
• Christmas holidays: 19th December to 6th January
• Easter holidays: 30th March to 6th April
• Regional holidays: 23rd April (Día de San Jorge)

Asturias 2025–2026 school calendar

Asturias offers a generous winter break and throws in a special Carnival holiday.

• Start of school year: 9th September
• End of school year: 19th June
• Christmas holidays: 22nd December to 7th January
• Easter holidays: 30th March to 5th April
• Regional holidays: 8th September (Asturias Day), 13th–17th February (Carnival Week/Semana Blanca), 1st–4th May (May “puente”).

Castilla-La Mancha 2025–2026 school calendar

This region has a classic layout and extra regional celebrations in spring.

• End of school year: 17th June
• Christmas holidays: 22nd December to 7th January

• Regional holidays: 31st May (Castilla-La Mancha Day), 4th June (Corpus Christi), 7th January, 14th November (Teachers’ Day), 16–17th February (Carnival Break/Semana Blanca)

Castilla y León 2025–2026 school calendar

Long academic year with staggered finish for exam years and a few handy days off.

• Start of school year: 8th September (main levels); 15th–22nd September (Bachillerato, FP, arts, languages)
• End of school year: 22nd May for upper years/Bachillerato, 29th May for languages, 24th June for most students
• Christmas holidays: 22nd December to 7th January
• Easter holidays: 27th March to 6th April

In Catalonia, schools tend to start a touch earlier, and regional celebrations are a big part of the pace.

Ceuta & Melilla 2025–2026 school calendar

Both Spanish autonomous cities run off a provisional schedule, mixing national, religious and local holidays.

• End of school year: 19th June

Comunidad Valenciana 2025–2026 school calendar

Valencia mixes the mainland timetable with big local festivals like Fallas.

Galicia has one of the longest Carnival breaks and a late finish for vocational students.

• End of school year: 19th June, 15th June (for 2nd years of vocational courses)

Murcia’s school calendar takes its cues from the mainland, but has its own stretches of time off.

• End of school year: 22nd June (Infantil, Primary, ESO, 1st Bachillerato), 15th July (first cycle of Infantil)

Navarra 2025–2026 school calendar

Term dates in Navarra can vary slightly by level, but regional holidays are always marked.

• Easter holidays: 2nd to 12th April

País Vasco (Basque Country) 2025–2026 school calendar

The Basque Country tends to start the school year earliest of all, and includes plenty of local traditions.
