Spain will host Denmark in an electrifying Davis Cup Qualifier at Marbella’s prestigious Puente Romano Tennis Club from 13–14 September 2025. This decisive tie will determine which nation earns a coveted place in the Final 8 in Bologna this November — and it’s set to be one of the highlights of Marbella’s late-summer social calendar.

Why Marbella?

The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) chose Marbella for its world-class facilities, excellent September climate, and proven ability to stage top-tier international tennis events. This will be the fifth time the city has hosted a Davis Cup tie, following successful editions in 1989, 2009, 2018, and 2022.

The Venue – Puente Romano Tennis Club

Located within the luxurious Hotel Puente Romano resort, the tennis club first opened in 1979 and has welcomed legends like Björn Borg and Manolo Santana. Its central stadium seats around 2,500 spectators, with temporary stands boosting capacity to 5,000 for this event. Just steps from the beach and surrounded by high-end dining, shopping, and leisure options, it’s one of the most prestigious sporting venues on the Costa del Sol.

Format and stakes

The September clash is part of the second-round qualifiers, with seven winners joining host nation Italy at the Final 8 from 18–23 November 2025 in Bologna. For Spain, victory here means advancing with the home crowd’s support — and for Denmark, it’s a chance to cause an upset on the clay courts of southern Spain.

Teams and players to watch

Spain’s line-up will feature:

  • Carlos Alcaraz
  • Alejandro Davidovich
  • Pedro Martínez Portero
  • Marcel Granollers

A fifth player will be announced soon. Olympic doubles champion Marc López joins the coaching staff alongside team captain David Ferrer, who emphasises the importance of home advantage.

Denmark’s challenge will be led by rising star Holger Rune, making for an intense two days of competition.
