Every April, Seville transforms into something that feels halfway between a village fête and a theatrical spectacle. For 2026, the Feria de Abril runs from Tuesday 21st to Sunday 26th April.

The fairground in Los Remedios becomes a temporary city of lanterns, horses, and music. If you’re only in town for a day or two, these are the five moments and experiences that really capture the spirit of the Seville Fair 2026.

What to see at Feria de Abril in Seville 2026

Witness El Alumbrao

If there’s one symbolic moment that defines the start of Feria, it’s El Alumbrao. At midnight on Monday, 20th April 2026, the main gate and thousands of lights across the fairground switch on at once.

This year’s portada commemorates the 500th anniversary of the marriage of Charles V and Isabella of Portugal, which was celebrated at the Real Alcázar.

With more than 28,000 light bulbs, it’s the visual centrepiece of the entire week and the place everyone gathers for that first photo of the Feria.

Step inside a public caseta and order like a local

The heart of the Seville Fair is inside the casetas – striped marquee-style tents lining the streets of the recinto. There are over 1,000 casetas, but most are private and require membership or an invitation.

Several municipal casetas, run by neighbourhood councils, are open to everyone. In 2026, these include Casco Antiguo, Sur – Bellavista – La Palmera, and Triana – Los Remedios.

Inside, you’ll find live sevillanas, locals dancing in traditional dress, and long tables filled with plates of jamón, tortilla, queso and fried fish. The drink of choice is rebujito – manzanilla sherry mixed with lemon-lime soda and served ice cold.

Watch the horses and carriages during the day

Between late morning and early evening, the fairground fills with horse riders and traditional carriages, many of them driven by local families who take this part of the week very seriously.

The traditional dress is part of the spectacle: women in trajes de flamenca in every imaginable colour and men in short jackets and wide-brimmed hats. It gives you a clearer sense of the Feria’s 19th-century origins as a livestock fair.

Visit the Plaza de Toros during the bullfighting

For many Sevillanos, the Feria is closely linked to the bullfighting season at the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza. The 2026 cycle runs through April, with key dates during Feria week itself.

Even if you decide not to attend a bull show, walking past the Maestranza on a bullfighting afternoon gives you a sense of how intertwined this tradition remains with the city’s identity.

Stay until the fireworks close the 2026 Seville Fair

The Feria officially runs until Sunday, 26th April 2026, when a fireworks display marks the end of the celebrations in the early hours of the morning. Watching the fireworks near the Guadalquivir, with the lights of the portada still glowing behind you, is the closest you get to a full-circle moment at the Seville Fair.
