The area combines historic early 20th-century buildings, elegant residential streets, theatres, cafés and restaurants popular with professionals, creatives and university students.

Beyond Europe, the couple also own a villa in the Bahamas, often referred to as Bougainvilla House.
This is their true escape: white sand beaches, turquoise sea and lush vegetation replace Madrid’s avenues and Hollywood’s red carpets. It is the setting for private time away from both Spanish and American media attention.
Their wedding in 2010 was held privately in the Bahamas, reinforcing their preference for discretion.

Despite their move back to Spain, Los Angeles remains part of their professional life. They maintain a home in the L.A. metropolitan area, used as a base during filming, promotional tours and award seasons.
In earlier stages of their careers, Los Angeles played a much more central role. Over time, particularly after the birth of their children, Madrid became their main anchor.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem first met in the early 1990s on the set of Jamón Jamón, directed by Bigas Luna. Their relationship began years later while filming Vicky Cristina Barcelona by Woody Allen. Since then, they have worked together on a total of nine films, building both a personal and professional partnership.
