The short film festival on Instagram is giving people the opportunity to spend this time of quarantine in a different and more entertaining way, above all maintaining the responsibility #YoMeQuedoEnCasa.
Cuarentena (Quarantine) Film Festival is a short film festival which is using the social media platform of Instagram to give people the opportunity to spend this time of quarantine in a different and more entertaining way, above all maintaining the responsibility #YoMeQuedoEnCasa (I’m staying at home). Let's find out more about this initiative and also how you can take part.
The big idea
After seeing how the independent music sector has taken advantage of the unfortunate coronavirus situation and launched Cuarentena Fest, the world of cinema is also coming together in an original and attractive way, to promote culture, creativity and to try and ease the confinement boredom. The idea behind this short film festival in Spain is an aim to demonstrate that human beings are capable of bringing out their creativity and using it to help others through challenging times, such as the COVID-19 crisis that is affecting so many countries worldwide.
The Cuarentena Film Festival is aimed at every confined citizen in Spain and beyond who owns some sort of camera capable of recording (a smartphone more than suffices) and invites them to record a short film between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. There doesn’t have to be a specific theme, the only requirement is that the clips must be recorded in a quarantine context. Entries must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and received by Monday 23rd March 2020 at 12:00.
Sit back and relax
The best entries are already being published on the Cuarentena Film festival Instagram account (@cuarentenafilmfestival) where several creative short films are posted every day for your enjoyment. It's time to get filming and release those quarantine creative juices!
