The legendary Los Monteros hotel in Marbella has reopened after two years of renovations, now under the Kimpton brand, IHG’s luxury label.
Following an extensive and carefully executed renovation, the five-star luxury hotel now offers 195 elegant and stylish rooms, including 60 suites. Most feature spacious terraces with stunning sea views, thanks to the property’s prime location just 500 metres from the beach.
Culinary experience
The hotel’s culinary experience is one of its standout features – it was, in fact, the first in Spain to be awarded a Michelin star. In this new chapter, Málaga-born chef José Carlos García, who earned a star for his namesake restaurant, now leads the culinary direction at Kimpton Los Monteros.
The complex boasts no fewer than five dining establishments. The main restaurant, Jara, will offer Mediterranean cuisine, celebrating the finest local produce. Escondido Rooftop will serve vibrant Mexican dishes, while Azul Lounge Bar will provide coffee and breakfast in the morning, followed by live music and cocktails at sunset.
Also on offer is the Costa Club Pool Bar, a chic and relaxing poolside spot, and finally, Rachel’s Eco Love, which focuses on healthy, sustainable cuisine.
Style and design
The transformation of this luxurious hotel has been entrusted to the Barcelona-based studio El Equipo Creativo, winner of over 70 international awards, including ‘Best Interior Design Firm 2023’ by the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
For the renovation, the studio blended historical and contemporary elements, drawing inspiration from Málaga’s rich cultural heritage. Geometric patterns, terracotta tiles and organic curves were incorporated to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The rooms, meanwhile, have been designed by the renowned Cristina Carulla studio, which sought to highlight natural materials paired with vibrant colours, capturing the essence of Mediterranean life.
Services and entertainment
The hotel offers a range of amenities, including yoga and Pilates classes, a fully equipped gym for strength training, and its very own racquet club, which boasts six padel courts and three outdoor tennis courts. Guests also enjoy priority access to a nearby golf course.
The hotel also has a spa, offering personalised treatments and a wide variety of massages, as well as cosmetic formulas for guests' well-being.
The hotel is also an ideal destination for high-profile events and meetings, offering gardens, versatile spaces and rooms with a capacity for up to 250 guests.
Reservations for the hotel are now open, with prices starting from €340 per night.
