The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism will set aside €208.5 m for a programme to improve the competitiveness and revitalisation of historical heritage for tourist use, as published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The call's objective, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, is to fund projects to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations and boost cultural tourism by protecting, maintaining and rehabilitating historic heritage assets and buildings declared "Sites of Cultural Interest" or any of the equivalent categories of protection.
Potential grant beneficiaries include autonomous communities and towns (represented by their respective town councils), provinces and islands (through provincial and regional councils), counties, communities or other local entities.
Of the €208.5 m in subsidies, autonomous communities will receive €69.5 m for a minimum investment of €750,000 and a maximum investment of €3,000,000, while local entities will receive €139 m for a minimum investment of €750,000 and a maximum investment of €3,000,000.
An initial 50% of the grant awarded will be paid after the final resolution and the other 50% within the period established in the call for applications.
The application deadline will be one month from Thursday, the day after this order is published in the Official State Gazette.
