Located on Giudecca Island, just five minutes from Piazza San Marco in Venice, the Belmond Hotel Cipriani is an oasis of luxury and glamour accessible only by private boat. Since 2019, the chain has been part of the LVMH company, and is once again in the news for topping a new ranking of the world's most luxurious hotels, according to the luxury French publication La Liste.
The Belmond Hotel Cipriani has 94 rooms and has just celebrated its 65th birthday. It was inaugurated in the 1950s by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of the famous Harry's Bar in Venice, where illustrious personalities such as Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles or the businessman Gianni Agnelli frequented. Cipriani also invented the famous Bellini cocktail, in honour of the Venetian painter, consisting of sparkling white wine, originally prosecco, and fresh peach pulp. It is the signature drink of his bar, Il Gabbiano.
Part of the hotel is housed in the Palazzo Vendramin, formerly a 15th-century Venetian aristocratic residence. With 16 suites overlooking the Piazza San Marco from €1,000 a night, it will delight the most exclusive guests.
Its interior combines bright, frescoed details with original art pieces from centuries bygone and marble bathrooms reflecting Venetian charm.
In addition to its prime location on the Venice lagoon, you can enjoy its heated Olympic-size saltwater swimming pool and its beauty and wellness centre called Casanova. It is believed that the famous writer and diplomat spent more than one occasion in this palace.
