The story of this iconic property began a century ago, when Argentine poet and arts patron Adán Diehl acquired the land with the vision of creating a residential retreat for family and friends. In its early days, the remote location was accessible only by boat, making the project economically unsustainable. As a result, half of the building was opened to paying guests, and so the historic Hotel Formentor was born. Today, it enters a new era as a Four Seasons hotel.
The resort, which still retains its private jetty to receive guests, offers 110 spacious and luxurious suites, each with stunning Mediterranean views and a design inspired by the island’s timeless glamour. Particularly noteworthy are the Formentor and Royal Suites, situated on the third floor in a prime location, offering an exceptional level of comfort and exclusivity.
The resort is firmly committed to exclusivity and wellbeing, offering a range of facilities designed to cater to every guest. These include several pools – both family-friendly and adults-only – a tennis court, private gym, children’s club, event spaces and a boutique by the Ibizan brand Binibeca. New additions this season include a state-of-the-art wellness centre featuring a hydrotherapy area, sauna, steam bath and treatment rooms; an artisanal ice cream parlour; a stylish beach club; and Shima, a new restaurant specialising in Nikkei cuisine, which now joins the resort’s existing culinary offerings: Mel, Quiosc and Cercle.
Gastronomy takes centre stage at the resort, with bespoke private dining experiences available in-suite or even aboard a boat off-site. Guests can also enjoy curated wine tastings and explore the resort’s winery, operating under the exclusive Viñas de Formentor label.
The philosophy of the newly reimagined Four Seasons is to immerse guests in the authentic spirit of Mallorca.
