In a context where access to housing is becoming increasingly challenging, rental assistance is essential for vulnerable people. This assistance aims to provide a safety net for those facing economic hardship, ensuring they have access to decent housing.
In addition to the assistance provided under the Housing Plan, there are other rental subsidies available for vulnerable families, which are managed by the regional governments. This article outlines what's available and how you can access them.

Rental assistance for vulnerable tenants
Alongside housing rental assistance, some autonomous communities offer specific aid for particularly vulnerable groups. In fact, some even provide financial support to local entities and third-sector organisations to provide housing for people in vulnerable situations.
Ideally, tenants in this situation should take the following actions:
- Register in the regional housing applicant registries.
- Go to the municipal social services: from there, you can access the resources available in terms of social housing.
Rental assistance for vulnerable people in Andalusia
The amount of aid can reach 100% of the rent, up to a maximum of €500 per month, plus maintenance, community fees and basic utilities, for up to an additional €200 per month. The maximum annual amount cannot exceed €6,000.
The average grant requested is estimated at €3,500, so the allocated credit can help around 4,800 people.
Those who own or have usufruct rights to a home are not eligible for this benefit. Applications will be accepted from 3 November to 2 December 2025.

Rental aid in Aragón for vulnerable families
In Aragón, there is aid to help pay the rent for flats or rooms for people in specific situations of vulnerability: victims of gender violence, people who've been evicted from their usual home, homeless people or others who are in social intervention programmes with a minimum duration of three months.
The subsidy will cover 50% of the rent amount, with a maximum limit of €600 per month for entire homes and €300 per month for rooms.
The aid may be granted for a maximum period of 12 months, between 1 January and 31 December 2025, or from the start date of the contract, if later, until the end date of the contract, if earlier.

Subsidies in Asturias for vulnerable tenants
Applications for rental assistance for vulnerable groups are open until 10 November in the Principality of Asturias.
To qualify, you must hold a permanent residential lease and be registered as a resident at that address for the entire period you receive the aid. The household income cannot exceed five times the annual IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income), although this limit is increased to five and a half times for large families, people with disabilities or victims of terrorism, and to six times for large families with special needs or people with disabilities of 33% or more.
Monthly rent cannot exceed €900. Furthermore, the applicant must have fallen into a vulnerable situation within the previous two years, with a reduction in income of at least 20%, so that their current income does not exceed three times the IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income) and their rent represents more than 30% of their income. To calculate this income, the most recent personal income tax (IRPF) returns are used as a reference or the corresponding supporting documentation if no tax return was filed.

Aid in the Canary Islands for vulnerable people
In the Canary Islands, a rental assistance payment of €600 per month is available, or even €900 in certain cases, such as when the maximum rent or transfer price is exceeded. This assistance can cover up to 100% of the cost of rent or housing under a lease, transfer of use or any other legally permitted temporary arrangement. This rental assistance is intended for:
- Victims of gender violence.
- People who are being evicted from their usual residence.
- Homeless people.
- Other groups considered especially vulnerable.
An additional allowance of up to €200 per month may be granted to cover maintenance, insurance, community fees and basic utilities costs for the home or housing solution, including internet access costs, up to a limit of 100% of said costs.

Assistance for vulnerable tenants in Cantabria
The Government of Cantabria has a programme of aid to provide immediate housing solutions to vulnerable groups, such as victims of gender violence, people affected by evictions, the homeless and other particularly vulnerable groups. This aid is managed by social services, which determine the specific vulnerability of the beneficiaries.
Aid of up to €700 per month may be granted for the rent or transfer price and in any case up to 100% of the rent or price of the housing or housing solution to be enjoyed under a lease, transfer for use or any other legally permitted temporary arrangement.

Castilla y León has announced rental subsidies for 2025 to help people with limited financial resources access housing or individual rooms.
The application period will run from 1 December 2025 to 30 January 2026, preferably online, although in-person submissions at the Junta de Castilla y León registry offices or at the locations provided for under Law 39/2015 are also accepted.

For room rentals, only the tenant’s income is taken into account.
Maximum rents vary by municipality: in Zone 1, up to €550/month for a home and €200/month for a room; in Zone 2, up to €500/month and €175/month, respectively. These limits increase for large families, people with disabilities, or those in vulnerable situations, reaching €800/month in Zone 1 and €700/month in Zone 2.

Aid in Galicia for vulnerable tenants
In Galicia, the Social Rental Voucher has been introduced to support households struggling to meet rental costs due to critical situations such as eviction for non-payment, mortgage foreclosure, gender-based violence, sex trafficking, or the sudden loss of housing.
The scheme also covers those who have previously occupied social housing provided by the public sector or under partnership agreements. To qualify for assistance, household income must not exceed 1.5 times the Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income (IPREM), adjusted by a coefficient based on the number of family members. Applicants must obtain a municipal social services report assessing their economic and social circumstances, confirming their vulnerability or risk of social exclusion, and setting out the social support required.
The application period remains open until 30/11/2026 at 23:59.
