Marbella-based developer Sierra Blanca Estates, a leader in the luxury real estate sector on the Costa del Sol, has announced three new social housing projects in Málaga and Marbella. The initiative plans to deliver more than 370 social housing units (VPO) in response to the growing challenge of housing access in the region.

As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, the scheme aims to contribute actively to sustainable urban development and community well-being. “We cannot look the other way in the face of the significant housing shortage in our society,” said Pedro Rodríguez, president of the developer. “Our expertise is not in building subsidised housing for profit, but in doing so as a social responsibility.”

The three projects in development are:

  • Sierra Blanca Estates will build 25 social housing units in Marbella as part of the Arroyo Palomeras Partial Plan. The land was awarded through a public tender organised by the City Council, with completion scheduled for 2027.
  • Sierra Blanca Estates will deliver 270 social housing units in the Hacienda Cortés sector (SUS.RR-1) in Marbella. In this project, the developer is contributing land it owns to support an urban development proposal, making it one of the largest privately led residential schemes in the area.
  • Sierra Blanca Estates will build 80 social housing units in Málaga, within the “Ferrocarril del Puerto” (SUNC.LO-1) sector of the city’s General Urban Development Plan (PGOU). The proposal was submitted as part of a municipal competition, following an indirectly managed development model.

With these projects, Sierra Blanca Estates extends its reach beyond luxury real estate and branded residences, strengthening its position as a responsible developer committed to tackling the social and structural challenges of the regions in which it operates. With over 40 years of experience on the Costa del Sol, the company reaffirms its role as a driving force for improving fair access to housing.
