If you're considering moving to Spain, an important element to consider is where you're most likely to find a job and the unemployment rate in Spain. Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cádiz are the provinces with the highest unemployment rate in Spain in the current crisis period for jobs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is according to the latest data published by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE), corresponding to the second quarter of 2021.

Behind these provinces and also with some of the highest unemployment rates in Spain in 2021 are another 7 provinces with an unemployment rate of 20% of the active population. These areas include Jaén, Ceuta, Las Palmas, Granada, Córdoba, Almería and Seville.

On the other hand, Huesca has the lowest unemployment rate in Spain in 2021, at 6.8%. Huesca is followed by Gipuzkoa, Teruel, Palencia and Lugo, all with unemployment rates below 10% in the second quarter of 2021. Important provinces that concentrate employment in Spain such as Madrid (12.1%), Barcelona (12.2%), Valencia (16.1%), Malaga (19.1%) and the Balearic Islands (15.2%) have unemployment rates in the middle of the table.
