Landgeist.com

This map provides an interesting insight into the housing type that most Europeans live in. The study includes three housing types: flat, detached house and semi-detached or terraced house, according to Eurostat data.

Most Europeans live in a flat or a detached house. Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Belgium are the only European countries where the most people live in a terraced or semi-detached house. In the UK and the Netherlands, it's even a majority of the population that lives in a terraced or semi-detached house. The Netherlands has the highest share of people living in semi-detached or terraced houses in Europe, 62.2%.

In most of eastern and northern Europe, detached housing is the most common type of home. In Northern Macedonia, 71.2% of the population lives in detached housing, the highest percentage in Europe.

Flats are more common in the Baltics and southern and central Europe. In Spain, 65.7% of the population lives in flats, the highest figure in Europe.
