Beach holidays often revolve around finding pristine, white-sand shores. A recent study by the travel agency CV Villas highlights the 30 beaches with the whitest sand globally. Notably, six Spanish beaches are featured in this ranking, including Playa de Muro in Palma de Mallorca, which ranks fourth, and Cala Pluma in Ibiza, which is sixth.

How to find the whitest beaches

To conduct their research, CV Villas captured raw screenshots from Google Maps of over 200 beaches worldwide and used a tool to determine the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) code of the sand at each location. They then compared these codes to the purest shade of white (RGB: 255, 255, 255) and, using the colormine.org calculator, identified which beach had the whitest sand.

Where are the world's whitest beaches?

The research revealed that Tulum Beach in Mexico topped the list, with sand just 1.4 points away from the purest shade of white. Situated on the Caribbean coast, this breathtaking beach features vibrant blue waves and near-immaculate white shores.

In second place is Anse Source d'Argent in the Seychelles, which recorded a colour difference of 4.3 points from the purest shade of white. It is the only beach on the African continent to make it into the top 30.
