Benidorm has become one of the Spanish cities with the tallest skyscrapers, driving remarkable vertical growth in recent years. Residents and visitors to this coastal city can marvel at the impressive heights of its buildings, which give its skyline a distinctive and striking appearance.
This transformation of the Valencian city has closely followed its population growth, requiring vertical space solutions. But do you know which are the 10 tallest buildings in Benidorm?
- Intempo Building, Benidorm's tallest building
- Gran Hotel Bali, Europe's tallest hotel
- Torre Lúgano, a would-have-been wind tower
- Neguri Gane, an example of brutalist architecture
- Kronos Building, Benidorm's fourth tallest building
- Don Jorge Building, with a wave-shaped roof
- Mirador del Mediterráneo, Benidorm's twin towers
- Torre Levante, Benidorm's oldest skyscraper
- Costa Blanca Residential, known as Torres Soinsa
- Miragolf Playa 2, part of an important residential complex
Intempo Building, Benidorm's tallest building
Benidorm proudly boasts the Intempo Building, the tallest residential skyscraper in Spain. Standing at an impressive 202 metres and comprising 47 floors, it also holds the title of the tallest tower in Benidorm. Remarkably, excluding the Cuatro Torres Business Area in Madrid, it would be the tallest building in Spain, making it a prominent landmark on the Iberian skyline.
Its unique design features two parallel towers connected by an inverted cone, setting it apart from its surroundings. Inside, the flats offer residents modern comforts, including access to a gym, restaurants, swimming pools and a spa area.
Gran Hotel Bali, Europe's tallest hotel
The Gran Hotel Bali, standing at 186 metres, was the tallest building in Spain until 2006 but remains the tallest hotel in Europe. It is not only the second tallest building in Benidorm but also in the entire Valencian Community. Interestingly, it is also considered one of the most luxurious hotel complexes on the continent.
Guests can enjoy opulent rooms alongside amenities such as swimming pools and a spa. While the original plan envisioned a height of 200 metres, this was ultimately not achieved. Nevertheless, the Gran Hotel Bali continues to be a striking feature of Benidorm's iconic skyline.
Torre Lúgano, a would-have-been wind tower
Torre Lúgano stands at an impressive 158 metres, securing its position as the third tallest building on this list. With its base situated approximately 82 metres above sea level, this height makes it the most prominent structure on Benidorm's skyline. Since its inauguration in 2007, the tower has offered 204 remarkable homes.
Interestingly, Torre Lúgano was built after plans to build a Wind Tower in Valencia were quashed, which would have stood at 170 metres. It also ranks among the tallest buildings in Spain, closing out the list of the country’s top 10 tallest structures.
Neguri Gane, an example of brutalist architecture
The Neguri Gane Tower stands out not only for its height but also for its distinctive brutalist design. This architectural style, which emerged in the 1950s in the United Kingdom, emphasises exposed construction materials such as concrete or brick, with angular shapes and monochromatic tones. At 145 metres, the tower was the tallest residential building in Spain from 2001 to 2008.
The interior spans 43 floors, offering numerous homes along one of the city's thoroughfares, Avenida de Europa. Adding to its appeal, the tower features a swimming pool on the 26th floor, enhancing residents' comfort. Its base, with rounded shapes and cylindrical columns, further accentuates its unique architectural style.
Kronos Building, Benidorm's fourth tallest building
Levante Beach is home to a striking 140-metre-high building, located right at the entrance to Benidorm. From this vantage point, the residential flats offer stunning views of the city, spread across 41 floors, with one- to three-bedroom options available. The building's common areas also set it apart, featuring two swimming pools, a spa and green spaces for residents to enjoy.
Designed by Florentino Regalado & Asociados, the tower is built with a concrete structure and 41 solid slabs. The balconies create an intriguing mirror effect on the façade, enhancing the building's luminosity and adding to its visual appeal.
Don Jorge Building, with a wave-shaped roof
The Don Jorge Building, located near the Mirador del Mediterráneo and next to the Torre Lúgano, reaches 124 metres in height, making it the sixth tallest building in Benidorm. While not an especially wide tower, it rises vertically to house residential flats across its 36 floors.
In terms of design, the building features a distinctive wave-shaped façade made of perforated metal, making it easily recognisable to both locals and visitors alike.
Mirador del Mediterráneo, Benidorm's twin towers
A city renowned for its skyscrapers, like Benidorm, naturally boasts its own twin towers. The Mirador del Mediterráneo, standing at 123 metres, consists of two tall buildings joined by a common core that rises to the seventh floor. The design tapers as the building ascends, with the highest floor featuring just one flat on each side.
The lower floors of the towers house garages, which are connected, while the upper levels are dedicated entirely to luxury homes, offering residents stunning views of the city across 35 floors.
Notably, the towers are equipped with a roller system that allows each to sway independently, enabling them to withstand strong gusts of wind.
Torre Levante, Benidorm's oldest skyscraper
The Torre Levante opened in 1985, is not only one of the tallest buildings in Benidorm but also the oldest on this list. Its height of 120 metres made it the tallest building in the city until the Gran Hotel Bali opened in 2002.
As the first building to exceed 30 floors, it remains the only structure over 100 metres tall along the beachfront. This prime location offers residents some of the best sea views in the city. Additionally, its unique architectural style, characterised by its narrow design, makes it appear especially tall.
Costa Blanca Residential, known as Torres Soinsa
The Costa Blanca Residential Complex, formerly known as Torres Soinsa, consists of two buildings of varying heights. The tallest of the two is Costa Blanca 1, which stands at 116 metres and comprises 36 floors, all dedicated to residential use.
Located in the Los Juzgados area, the building is notable for its design, featuring a wide front and particularly narrow sides. Its upper section is topped with a triangular shape, and the combination of grey, green and red hues on the façade makes it a distinctive and easily recognisable landmark in the city.
Miragolf Playa 2, part of an important residential complex
Like many of the buildings on this list, Miragolf Playa 2 is a residential tower standing at 115 metres, completing the list of the 10 tallest buildings in Benidorm. It is the tallest tower in the complex, which comprises three buildings, all over 100 metres in height.
The Miragolf Playa 2 tower enjoys an excellent location, just a short distance from Playa de Poniente, and offers 33 floors of homes that are particularly sought after by residents of Benidorm.
